If you allow some one to kill you and you have the power to stop them and dont because you want to die is what you did suidice... i cant spell. And if murder is a sin that gets you in hell then suidice is murder of yourself then you will go to hell and isnt that what jesus did he allowed himself to be killed for us so isnt what he did suidice? I grew up in a pegan home and i never understood christain beliefs.

  • I think this is a good question. While Jesus did allow Himself to be killed, it wasn't suicide because the whole reason He came here was to be the sacrifice for our sins. It was prophesied way back in Genesis, through the whole Bible, and then it came to pass. If you look at the OT sacrificial system you will see the symbolism.

He came here to be the sacrificial Lamb, without spot. He didn't just give up on God's plan for His life because it was too hard. He fulfulled God's plan for His life even though it was too hard.

He even prayed and asked God to provide some other way, but there was no other way. So He did it, He endured the cross and the pain of all our our sins being laid upon Him.

So He didn't escape God's plan for His life, He endured it. It wasn't suicide; it was sacrifice.

    I hope that makes sense.

  • can someone just explain to me how that is not suicide? thats all i want to know?

  • he didnt' "allow" himself to be killed. He had a death sentence, and accepted it. He was only human, although many will argue that statement.

I will say this, at least he died with honor. That's more than most of his followers can claim.

  • If you allow yourself to be killed in defense of other's even if it was preventable is it suicide? No. The Christian belief is that Jesus died to save others. He sacrificed himself for the greater good. Nothing done with so much LOVE would condemn a person to hell.
