if men and women evolved from monkeys and apes then why do we still have monkeys and apes?

  • Yep men & women did not evolve from apes & couldn't have because apes are (at the moment) an end product like humans. The ancestors of humans are often refered to as "ape-like" which would be an appropriate description of modern humans as well (if slightly less so), I believe that is where the confusion comes in.

  • Common misconception. Evolution does not state that we evolved from apes but rather a common primate ancestor

  • We didn't.  We evolved from these:

    And so did the monkeys and the apes.  We're on the left branch, they're on the right.  Further back you'll find the dogs and cats branching off, and even further back you'll find the birds.
