Was anyone else not able to wear tampons after having kids?

After my first I could still wear them fine but after my 2nd, 6 months later, I still can't. They just slip down immediatly and barely sit right inside to wear it's uncomfortable, I can feel it. I don't know if I am still larger than normal or what. I put it up as far as I can, it doesn't help. If you couldn't at first, did it ever get better? I HATE wearing pads.

  • I don't know about the tampon question, but Always makes this super-thin pad now. I don't remember the name of it, but it's in an aqua box and it's as thin as a pantyliner, but holds a LOT. You could try those, until you shrink back down.

  • Actually those new Always ones are the ones I just bought this last time and for a pad, they are GREAT. I am really really impressed with how much better and nicer they are. They are super soft and you can barely tell it's there. But it's still gross, I feel dirty and stinky. Thanks :)

  • I didn't have that issue.. but I didn't have my daughter vaginally either.. try doing kegals (sp) to strengthen your muscles back up! Only thing i can think of to make it better :)

  • I'm due with my first at the end of the month and I am not liking these answers. :( I absolutely HATE pads. Ugh.

  • I've had 4 kids, 3 vaginally, and have the same problem. As gross as it is, I've started using the OB tampons (gross because they don't have an applicator...hey you're gonna wash your hands anyway, right?). I get decent protection with those and I don't feel them. However, I can't swim with a tampon anymore so I avoid the pool that week. HTH!

  • Also, I found that Tampax were long and irritated me more. Playtex are short as are the OB's. I haven't tried any other brands.

  • Give it some time and do Kegels. I have 3 kids, all vaginal births, and I remember when the tampons would slip to an uncomfortable place. I am all better now.
hmm...I don't even do Kegels. My last kid is 8 years old, so I am fine now!
