  • As far as I know, anybody with private insurance can keep their plan as long as they remain eligible. Public insurance would be available to those who aren't able to get private insurance due to pre-existing conditions or income. There will be a lot of people opting out of public insurance probably. So what?

  • if the government officials don't have to use crappy care and have the lives dictated then i don't either. this country is based on freedom of choice, not due what the government tells you to. man we starting to sound more and more like china everyday.

  • The house bill says there will be a health commission appointed by Obama. A bunch of people from private business and Government who will decide what is good, bad or just tolerable and how much it should cost. It's right there in black and white. GOVERNMENT RUN HEALTHCARE. Within 5 yrs, 90% of people will be pushed out of private care and only the people who can afford expensive plans will have private ins. Thats also a lot of jobs lost.

  • They want what they want and they want it yesturday

Unfortunately, that sums up many Americans, not just those on the bottom socio-economic rung.
Read many of the comments in this forum. So many angry ppl using foul language and bully tactics, yet calingl themselves Christians. Aren't Christians suppose to have the ability to empathize and consider the needs of others, too?

Way too many immature ppl just wanting what they want, and throwing tantrums in order to achieve that goal-

  • Some would be happy with reform without another government run mess sisteract.Matter of fact i;d venture to say THAT would be the way most American;s would prefer but it doesn't matter the dems are determined to create UHC one way or the other. As for Christian's are you assuming that ALL who post here are Christian;s or just that the Conservative's are all Christian's? That would be wrong there are alot who are not Christian to begin with

  • The private insurers will be forced out of business a little at a time because they won't be able to write new policies. If you leave your job for any reason you will be forced into the govt care because even if your new job has insurance you can't get it because they can't write you a policy.

I question the idea of taxing the "cadillac" polices to help come up with some of the money to pay for this scheme. Those cadillac policies will only be around for awhile themselves because they won't be able to write new ones once govt care goes in effect.

I saw Pelosi on tv yesterday. She actually said people are "clamoring" for single payer (govt only) care! I actually laughed. Who exactly is clamoring?? She also said she will allow HR 676, an old single payer option go to the floor for a vote this fall.

  • How about if instead of socializing medicine they:

Have real tort reform, no more 500 million dollar jury awards for an honest and true accident made my a doctor.
Allow all insurers to sell across state lines, let them be nationwide. It will force them to compete with each others.
Give up a govt run Medicare. Put all funds collected into a trust. Lay out a contract of expected services and let insurers bid on it. This will put decent payments in the hands of providers and remove the govt red tape.

Medicaid neeeds a separate overhaul and I think it should be handled by the states and not the feds.
