Why has my daughter stopped pooping in the toilet?

To begin with when we first started potty training her first couple successful trips to the potty were poop. Now she has mastered pee pee as long as she is not to busy playing sometime she has an accident (like once a week) but refuses to poop in the potty. She'll hide and try to go in a corner or out in the yard. We've done rewards and bribes and even had her sit down and wait a few minutes if she had hash marks to see if it would come out with patience and nothing she just hold it. and she just says i don't want to.

  • Hmm. Will she talk to you about it? Does it hurt her to go? If she goes in her pants, is she OK with you dropping it in the potty and flushing it? Sometimes kids think it's a part of them that's being flushed away. It's interesting how their imaginations can be sometimes! Anyone that might be yelling at her or being mean while on the potty such as at day care or at someone elses house? That might actually make her think it's a bad thing to poopy in the potty. Does she tell you after she goes? Have you tried making her keep the poop in her pants for a while?

Just trying to think out loud for you.
