Variation: Use lemon extract instead of vanilla

    Variation: Peanut Butter Frosting

    6 tablespoons butter, room temperature

    1 cup packed brown sugar

    2/3 cup peanut butter

    1/4 cup milk

    2/3 cup chopped, unsalted peanuts

  • And I was just going to give you the Add the Dr. Pepper to the boxed cake mix recipe. LOL! But I might have to try that scratch one!

Actually, what I do is use DIET Dr. Pepper and add it to a chocolate cake mix...just that, not the oil, not the eggs, just the diet soda. (You can use any diet soda with this) I use dark sodas for dark cakes, light sodas for light cakes. And bake! It cuts the calories in half, the cake bakes up nice and it tastes really good!

1 chocolate cake mix mixed w 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1 can (12 oz) Dr. Pepper

Spray the inside of a 3 1/2 qt crockpot with cooking spray. Mix together cake mix & soda. Pour into crockpot. Cook on low 2/12 to 4 hours.

You can do this with any combo of cake mixes and soda that you want (we like white or yellow cake mix & orange soda or lemon cake mix & lemon-lime).

BTW-soda is known as pop the you northerners LOL
