I am wanting to start an in home daycare and I am wonder if anyone on here has done that? Is it a good income? How many kids can you have per adult? I need as much info as I can get to make sure this is a career I can do.

  • I think it depends on what state you live in what the guidelines are. I have a friend who does home daycare, and she is licensed through the state. They can drop in unannounced, however, usually they schedule home visits. She is only allowed to have two infants in her home at a time.

Check with your state board of health for information on that I think.

  • The best thing you can do is get a contract and stick to it. If not my experience parents will take advantage of you. I would be told they would drop of at 7 pick up by 5. the would drop off at 630 pick up around 7. They would decide to go grocery shopping before coming home. Use to make me so mad. Pay yourself what you are worth.
