Sleeping patterns

Is it bad that my 10 month old won't sleep through the night yet? He absolutly wont take the rice cereal and still wakes up every couple of hours to eat. What can i do? Will he start sleeping through the night soon?

  • He's normal! And if he sleeps five hours, he's sleeping thorugh the night.

Longer stretches will happen when HE is ready.

You might try NOT giving solids less than about two hours before bed. Solids can make them wake MORE rather than making them sleep.

Check out "The No Cry Sleep Solution" by Elizabeth Pantley. It will help.

  • At this age sleeping through the night is considered a 5 hour stretch or longer. It could very much have to do with how much he is eating during the day or it could be that he isn't ready yet. Is he eating any solids yet. My LO wouldn't eat rice cereal at all. I wish you luck.

  • you have him on solids right? jar foods, crackers, cheerios etc...it may just be that he doesn't like the rice cereal and you need to try something else. my daughter hated the boxed cereals but didn't mind the premixed jars, some are plain cereal some have fruit in them so you could try those as well. cooked mashed veggies, teething biscuits, stuff like that. there are plenty of foods for baby in the baby aisle at the grocery store so theres plenty of options other than rice cereal.

  • Make him a bigger bottle before bed and see if that works you can also give him yo-baby yogurt or little blends before bed something thats gonna fill him up for a few hours and see if he sleeps longer hopefully 8-10 hours straight. GL
