  • Of course ... Russians, North Korea, Iran, Somali pirates, Castro, Chavez, Honduras' Zelaya, the Taliban, thugs in Iraq, Hamas, Saudi Arabia, China ...

And I think their test results are coming back with VERY clear predictions about Obama's and the State Department's future responses to despotism, trampled human rights, and even trampled legal rights (in the case of Honduras)

In the USSR, the political prisoners were herded into hard labor prison camps. And every time a Soviet leader got to pose for a photo with a U.S. official, they would have it blown up into posters to plaster all over the prison camps (and the general population, too).

This was done to discourage dissenters from thinking that there was ANY hope at all, from thinking that they could look to the U.S. to support their struggle for liberty.

I'd say that, in 6 short months, Obama has completely dashed hopes AROUND THE GLOBE.

  • Russian subs have always patroled off the east coast, the west coast, and everywhere in between. They are the reason we have subs patrolling all of those areas too. Nothing new except the Russians don't usually advertise it. It could also be propaganda. After the Cold War ended, we found out that the number and type of weapons the Russians said they had was not exactly accurate. You never know about that sort of thing.

  • Of course they are testing him. The morning after Obama's election, Russian President Dmitri Medvedev announced that Russia was deploying missiles in its European exclave of Kaliningrad in response to the U.S. deployment of ballistic missile defense systems in Poland. Russia moving to create a sphere of influence before Obama can bring his attention — and U.S. power — to bear.
Obama needs to create a coalition to resist the Russians. But Europe isn't interested in starting a cold war again The Germans can't afford to alienate the Russiansbecause of German energy dependence on Russia.

  • "Anytime the Russian Navy does something so out of the ordinary it is cause for worry,” said a senior Defense Department official who has been monitoring reports on the submarines’ activities."
