do dogs get uti's?

i got a puppy and it seems that she keeps trying to pee... do dogs get UTIs?

  • Absolutely! In fact they can get them a lot, especially unfixed female dogs. I would have her checked out. There is really inexpensive meds they can give her to cut it out so I wouldn't worry about it too much! Good luck!

  • ...the vet's going to take her tomorrow morning.. poor thing's gotta suffer for another 19 hours.. :(

    i can tell she doesn't feel too great.

  • Yes any age dog can get a urinary  infection - she may need to see a vet for some antibiotics.

    To avoid UTIs in the future : cranberry and NuVET supplements sure do help:

  • yep we actually had a male dog the UTIs but that poor boy had a zillion things going on.
