  • there isn't anything you can do, it just happens if 2 eggs release at once and both get fertalized (fraternal) OR if one fertalized egg splits (identical)

  • You cannot do anything to conceive twins. Fraternal twins run in families so unless you or your husband have twins that run in the family, you don't have much of a chance of conceiving fraternal. And identical twins are actually very rare and occur and random for no apparent reason.

  • Before you ask this question you should be asking "Can I afford twins in this economy". Make sure you have your ducks in a row before conceiving even just one let alone two. As a mom of twins, having them can be expensive.

  • Any fertility drug will increase your odds of conceiving twins, but you could end up with more than two...or none. IVF with two embryos is probably your best bet, but even with that there is no guarantee. Things like eating a lot of a certain type of yams, having lots of pregnancies, being over-weight, or having kids when you are older might increase your chances of conceiving twins a little bit, but there really isn't anything you can do to dramatically increase your odds of having twins. If fraternal twins run in your family, then your odds are naturally a bit higher than other people.

Be careful what you wish for!
