High Hgb levels

What could cause my almost 3 y/o to have high hgb levels?? Have any of you momma's had kids with high hgb? Should I be worried?? sorry all the questions I don't know whats going on she has a 3:30 appt but I would like to know anything I can to make sure if it's not good I won't freak out as bad thanks in advance

  • A high hemoglobin level can be caused by dehydration.

  • she don't seem dehydrated a nurse did the pinching of the skin thing and it didn't stay up

  • It could be a bone marrow dysfunction, a false positive from high altitude. Has she ever had any heart problems?

  • How many carbs does she eat in a day? Hgb has to do with blood sugar levels which are affected by all carbs, not just table sugar.

  • My 8 year old had this problem about 6 months ago. We started watching how many carbs he ate and made sure he got more exercise and the levels came back to normal range.

  • Hemoglobin levels actually have to do with blood's oxygen carrying capacity.
