High Cholesterol

Does anyone know of a good way to lower cholesterol? Maybe a natural vitamin or something over the counter?

  • Try to limit your in take of dairy products. If that is not appealing (you really like cheese like my family does) then go for the low fat or no fat options. Increase your intake of fiber (Cheerios can help) like fruit and veggies or other high fiber cereal. I would stay away from "pill promises" except pills that require a prescription (and even those I'd be wary of *smile*). Good Luck!

  • Walk, or do other exercise, for at least 20 minutes a day, at least 3 times a week.
    Make sure that you are drinking enough water, at least 8 8oz glasses a day.
    Eat an apple or big pile of veggies before meals.
    Eat 7-8 servings of fruits and vegetables a day, in at least 3 different colors.
    Eat 6-7 servings of whole grains a day.
    Eat at least 2 servings of legumes a day.
    Cut way back on, or eliminate, meat and dairy. Beans, lentils and tofu are all loaded with calcium and iron. Be sure to eat a vitamin C source with an iron source (like kale or beans) to increase the absorption of the iron.
