getting a 3 year on a routine!!---and his 2 year old brother!!

okay i know they probably should have been on some sort of routine long before now but they werent! now my 3 year old starts head start in september and i am worried he wont adapt well to a set routine especially since he usually sleeps till 9-9:30 and will have to be at school by 8 and meal times forget it but he will be eating breakfast and lunch there--thats just the beginning!! i guess i am just wondering if there is anything i can do to get him prepared for the activities and meal times as well as try to get him and his brother on some sort of routine before september?? any ideas??

  • Yea just sit down, write out a schedule and start immediately. You don't have too much longer before he starts head start and u need to get on the ball with the routine. It may take a bit for them to get used to it but it needs to be done. Start by putting him to bed at a set time each night, waking him up at the same time each morning (the time in which he would need to be awake when he starts head start) start feeding him meals on a schedule, kinda try to get him close to a schedule that follows the schools schedule with that as well.

  • You have to be strict about it, like PP said, write it out and get started TODAY on it. September will be here before you know it. I would suggest sticking to the schedule even on the weekends since you don't have much time to prepare. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
