Can you still get your hair highlighted if you are pregnant?

I'm only 5 weeks or so along and have a hair appt in 2 weeks which I have been looking soo forward to and then realized I'm not sure if I can or at what stage is safe. My daughter is 8 years old but I can't remember that far back.

  • I am a hair stylist yes you can still color your hair

  • Yeah your fine especially if it highlights because then the dye isn't sitting on your head. That rule is from way back when hair dye had fermaldihyd and all those lovely thing in it. At that point it wasn't say for ANYONE to dye there

  • I did mine but they say to wait until after your first trimester

  • The only thing you really need to wait on is if you were going to get your hair bleached. Highlights are fine just tell the stylist you want to be in a well-ventilated area so you don't get sick.
    Congrats btw!

  • yes you can, but it might not turn out right. your hormones can make it another color (darker, lighter, more red, etc).

  • I am a hairstylist and I have three healthy kiddos, I colored my hair all throughout my pregnancies. I wouldn't be too worried about it.
