What is Clomid, how does it work, and does it HAVE to be prescribed by the doc?

  • It's a PRESCRIPTION drug, so it does need to be precribed by a doctor and it does need to be taken and results monitored as instructed by a doctor. It would be illegal, and potentially dangerous, to get Clomid without a prescription. It works by stimulating your ovaries to realease follicles (developing eggs).

  • I'm pretty sure Kate from Jon & Kate + 8 used injectibles which more commonly produce a large number of eggs. The odds of twins are increased with Clomid, but the odds of more than twins are barely increased at all.
