Would you pay $50 a year to be part of a MOM Group?

So since I am a SAHM and I do get so bored since I dont have any friends in my area since we just moved, I decided to do a google search for mom groups in my area and came across one that is local but they charge a fee? I was dumbfounded and found it to be a bit odd. Is this the norm in other suburban and upscale areas? I dont mean to sound snobby, I really am not. I just dont know how else to word this question.

If cafemom charged an annual fee of $50, would you continue to be a member?

  • Nope. Although, with a local group, it may be that they use that money to fund group events or something.... just a thought =)

  • Because of what that group is, yeah I would. They don't just sit around talking. You are paying a membership fee that covers things you'll be doing as a member. Would you pay for Girl Scouts? NOT saying they're similar... just sayin.

  • Only if the other moms were like me and I had things in common with them. If they were like the women in a couple of my groups yes I would.
