  • Mine just turned three. She does it when she knows she is introuble or if she drops something. I try to encorage her to do it even though she is still learning what it means. That way she will have good manners when she starts school

  • She's too young to even know what it means so how can she mean it?

  • Kids who are forced to say they are sorry will sometimes start to do this. They may also be eager to please or wanting to avoid punishment. She could be hearing others saying this.

Try to be an investigator and figure out what is going on.

  • I have a 3 yr. old that refuses to say it, but my oldest used to do this. I just said, "that's OK now let's clean up the mess". I figured he needed to learn that an apology doesn't fix it. Sure enough when he figured that out or maybe it was as he got older can't really say, but he started really meaning it when he said it.
