Standing next to a microwave while pregnant?

Is that really gonna hurt me and my baby? I have had a radioactive treatment done on my thyroid so I do have some radioactivity still in me. But I heard that its bad to stand next to one while pregnant. Any truth to that?

  • No. That metal mesh stuff that you see as you look through the microwave window is what protects you. If it's there, you're fine.

  • Not that I know of. I used a microwave the whole time i was pregnant and I never had any problems. Dr. never told me not to stand next to a microwave in use.
