Just curious...

My daughter is 10 months old. She says mama and dada all the time, but rarely when prompted to do so. Is that normal? How old were all of your kids when they started to mimic what you said? Like I said she says mama and dada all the time. But if we tell her: "say mama" she usually just gets a goofy smile on her face and goes off in her own little gibberish :) I am not worried that she developing slow or anything, I was just curious...

  • At 10 months she is learning to use her ability to makes sounds more. However, they normally don't speak when prompted, because you are stimulating them in other ways in which they are listening.

  • Mine does the same thing. He will say "Daddy" when prompted, but won't say the other words he uses (Mama, baba, puppy).
