Do you think your child was pleased with who they got for a teacher and...

are you pleased? Have you met the teacher yet and if so what did you think? Did you feel in that short amount of time that you talked to the teacher he or she will be a good fit for your childs learning style? did you have any concerns? Does your child have any concerns about the teacher? If so how do you ease them. My daughter is concerned that the teacher she got isn't going to be flexible about how my daughter works in the class room. Shes a very fast worker, in that she finishes class work quickly and needs to be constantly involved. She is worried that the teacher will not allow her to do free reading (or silent reading for some of you) when she is done with her work. I am a bit worried about that too, while she is taking some advnaced classes alot of her time will be spent in the regular classroom and she and i are afraid shes going to get bored!!

  • give her teacher a chance....when you see that she's getting her work done quickly...ask her teacher to find ways to challenge her. A really good teacher will know how to keep your child's interests.  Does your school have a gifted and challenge program? Ask your child's teacher if she thinks she should be tested.

  • SHes in that already but at 4th grade they only allow them to participate in it half time the rest of the time they have to be in their regular class. Until next year anyway. I think its because so many parents believe without doubt that their child is gifted so they do it the first year half time to make sure that the child gifted or not can keep up with the work and other demands such as student council, 4h, choir, etc. so during the time that shes in regualr class shes worried about being bored
