How many cups of milk does your toddler drink everyday?

I know milk has a lot of nutritional value but at what point does it become too much. I hear a lot of moms on here say their kids drink up to a gallon of milk a day. Thats 16 servings / cups. Is that healthy? I am NOT bashing here at all.

  • My daughter doesn't really like milk and the most she will drink is maybe 6 to 10 ounces a day, like 2 small cups. She is 23 months.

  • My three kids never had a cup of milk in their lives. There is no reason for human kids have to drink cows milk.

  • No, I wouldnt definetly not give my child that much milk per day. My 13 month old has about 16-20 ozs of milk per day, as recommended by his pediatrician.

  • My son drinks about 10 oz of milk a day and has about 2-3 baby yogurts a day too. Yogurt's great because of the protein too. A gallon seems like a lot, but hey, whatever works....

  • I'm sure it SEEMS like a gallon, especially if you are running to the store constantly, but probably not.

It's amazing how many children have survived on cow's milk, is this something new? I have no problem with breast-feeding (people who do it, I've never done it) but why bash people for giving cow's milk? It's been around forever. It probably helped babies survive before there was formula if a mother couldn't nurse. Why do people act like it's "not right"?

  • you could give him/her skim milk. Less fat, just as much calcium. If you give a child too much milk, it can make him/her constipated.
