Why are you not suppose to use a stool softner while pregnant?

  • There are stool softners you can use while your pregnant, you not supposed to use laxitives. Laxitives can cause misscarriage or premature labor.

  • my doctor told me to use a stool softner when i was constipated while pregnant. he told me to use colace and it worked.

  • Stool softeners work by taking fluids from your body to add moisture to your stool, making it easier to pass. I would imagine that it would be advised against using them because it may take fluids away from the baby. If you are drinking plenty of water, I wouldn't see why you couldn't use them, but then you may not even need them if your stool is well hydrated. LOL, it just sounds funny describing that. I would do more research on the subject.

  • Fiber, fruit (especially high vitamin C fruit), and even liquid chlorophyll are much better to control constipation problems than a drug.

  • you can, colace is a good brand, but only use it if you really need it.
