Do you, or does anyone you know think the earth is flat?

My great grandma was probably the most amazing woman ever. I never met her, she died in 1973, but my grandma tells me stories about how she would work in the field all day and still find time to clean house, cook three meals, and raise five kids. I hate that I never got to meet her.

But one particular thing always strikes me as odd...she believed till the day she died that the earth was flat. She claimed that there was a Bible verse that said "...and the angels flew to all four corners of the earth." She said that the earth couldn't be round if the angels flew to the four corners.

Do you know anyone like this?

  • I do not know anyone like that nor do I believe that.

  • no but as a side note, the most amazing sight I've seen, geographcially speaking, was flying to Scotland and seeing the curvature of the earth out the window. I was in awe.

  • The Bible also said, "It is He who sits above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in." Isaiah 40:22

This indicates that the earth is round. I think when people talk about the four corners of the earth they are usually indicating direction (North, South, East, and West)

  • Also, before we knew we were just a ball floating in space, the Bible told us, "He stretches out the north over empty space And hangs the earth on nothing." Job 26:7 (the oldest book of the Bible).

    Pretty cool : )
