how do you manage holiday clothing........

So potentially there's Thanksgiving, then a few Christmas parties, visiting Santa, Christmas eve, Xmas day, church, etc etc etc etc.... a lot or a little, varies for each family. Do you get each kiddo a nice/fancy/good outfit and they wear it to each event or what? I ask becuz last year around October I got my son and daughter each a pricey and lovely Holiday outfit from and they wore it to EVERYTHING... like a dozen or more events. And looking back at pictures now... that was pretty lame. I should've gotten SEVERAL dresses/outfits from target, gap, gymboree, etc and still spent less. What does every1 else do?

  • My boys just wear their regular clothes. I do look thru and pick out nicer shirts and then let them choose which one they want to wear.

  • i dont buy an special outfits but then again we arent really going to parties for the holidays either. i dont think a family dinner, at least in my family, requires wearing any thing other than casual clothes.

  • My boys (dh and gs) have nice dress slacks and shirts... we don't go out and buy an outfit for each holiday... there would be no room for anything else...

  • I buy the kids several outfits, a new coat, and new shoes, and I allow them to select their favorite one to wear on this special day. We focus more on clothing and shoes than toys. They get toys, but they really need the winter clothing.

  • I spend $100-$120 on one outfit for each kid. But I had to bu all of them new clothes an dhtye do not need more. My dd's closet is so full I can't fit anything else in there. SO this year we will not be giving any new outfits for CHristmaas.

  • I go shopping AFTER the holidays for the next year's clothing, and thus buy several appropriate outfits. Last year, Asta had four different dresses that I had bought on clearance. One for my husband's squadron party, one for visiting Julniessen, one for Julaften, and one for Jul. She also had like 6 spring outfits, all bought on sale the previous year for like 80% off at Macys.
