  • Why bath her after every meal? Cant you just clean her up with a wet washcloth until the bath at night?

  • I'm sort of being sarcastic..sort of. It just blows my mind that even with a bib and NO shirt on she still manages to get food in her ears and hair and NEVER when I'm looking at her. I'm usually walking around clean up at these times and whenever I turn my head and look at her she's eating and not smooshing it in her hair!

  • Haha. If it's really messy, I take the clothing off and let her eat in a diaper then just wash with a wash cloth :) my daughter is 2 and still wants to eat with her fingers, but wil use a spoon a fork well if she feels like it. Still messy. And she likes to feed the dog, so the floor is a mess too!

  • Try giving her mess-friendlier meals. Such as cut up green beans or applesauce from a spoon. She doesn't need to feed herself everything.

  • Why limit her food choices though? She has plenty of non-messy foods, but most of the best foods are messy!!

  • Its a catch 22. Here are some non messy foods I give my girls: corn, peas, green beans, cheese quesadillas, chicken, mozz cheese cut up, pears, apples, crackers, Barilla picollini mini pasta with butter and parm cheese. A lot more but I can't think of them all. I dont use ANY gerber or beechnut things. They get messy stuff like beef with gravy or spaghetti every once in a while but it takes a while to clean up two high chairs when you're making 3 meals and 2 snacks every day!

If its not too hot out, have a picnic! I lay a plastic tablecloth down on the grass and just put food right down on it! My girls dont wander off the tablecloth because they're too busy stuffing their faces. Give yourself one day with all meals being non messy foods and maybe you'll feel rejuvenated.

  • My 23 month old is the same way! With every meal, some is in his hair, ears, all over the place. During the day when I feed him I take his clothes off so I can do a good wash down after he eats without a full bath. Then after dinner he normally has a much bigger mess and needs the bath.

I am not so sure what is fun about getting food in your hair, but he does it every time!
