Do you assume people BF until you find out they FF or do you assume they FF until you find out they are BF?

Not a troll question. Just trying to figure out which is considered more common.

  • I tend to lean more towards assuming they FF unless I know otherwise. I know lots of moms that have BF, but I feel kind of alone when I go to feed my baby when i'm out and about and I feel like I'm the only one BFing. I honestly don't think I've seen but maybe one other women out in public nursing. But I see bottles all the time.

  • Honestly neither. I assume they feed their child but don't really think about how until they either pop out a boob or a bottle.

  • Good point.

  • I never assume either. And even if they pull out a bottle, I never know if it's formula or breastmilk.

  • I just figure they are feeding their kid. I'd also never assume what might be in a bottle given to a baby.

  • Not wanting to get bashed here, but I just assume people breastfeed until I find out otherwise. It's so much better for your baby, and I think it's being advertised more and more lately . . . I just think it's becoming more common.

I KNOW there are women who can't breastfeed. I actually went through a huge ordeal myself having to use a supplementer and a pump - it was awful.

  • I never assume anything. It never crosses my mind to judge how another person feeds their children. I just dont think that way.

  • I'm gonna just put it out there and say that I 'assume' people are going to FF unless they tell me otherwise. Now I BF and I don't judge anyone for their decisions however I make baby items for my friends/family for their babyshowers and unless they tell me they are going to BF I don't make them BF items (like a nursing cover) Ill stick with other things like diaper stackers, blankets, bibs, diaper bag, etc.... I found that out the hard way when I made a nursing cover for a friend and she shyly told me afterwards 'Um I'm not going to BF but thankyou' I felt bad and ever since I just go with FF unless specifically told otherwise

  • Everybody I know breastfeeds, I think.

Answer by Anonymous at 9:12 AM on Aug. 10, 2009

  • I really do not care if people BF or FF. I do not judge either party.
