Not a dumb question: What kind of schools are out there?

Besides the Public Schools

  • private schools which an vary from catholic, other religious (jewish, various other christian denominations)

    schools with specific teaching philosophies such as montessorri, reggio emilio (sp), waldorf etc.
    home schooling
    virtual schools (on-line)
    Schools that have a specific focus like international studies, multiple languages, performing arts, creative arts, agricuture, architecture etc.etc.

    Schools that have a specific focus are often public. Schools with a specific teaching philosophy may be public and/or private.

    Oh this is not even approaching residential and/or boarding schools. And or schools for students with specific learning, behavioral and/or developmental needs.

  • cyber schools private schools, there r special needs schools and theres home schooling. catholic schools, christian schools and i think there r other religious schools.

  • In Chicago, there are gifted school, classical schools (Latin, etc.), schools based on the arts, math and science, foreign languages, high school military academies, There is even an Ag school.
