is it hard to teach yourself to knit or crochet?

I had thought about getting the books at walmart that show you how, but I usually have to watch someone else do it. Is it hard to do?

  • learntocrochet.com is a great site.

    I'm self taught.

there are sites and books that will teach you step by step with words and pictures on how to do the stitches.

  • It depends on the type of learner you are. I'm a kinesthetic type of learner so I need to read it, see it done, and learn from the mistakes I make while doing it myself in order to learn how to do something correctly.
Try it on your own, but if you become frustrated, try to find someone who would be willing to sit with you and help you develop your skill.
    Best wishes!

PS: I love crocheting string doilies :)
