  • I would say you'd have to check out the group first. I personally prefer breastfeeding support groups at hospitals or health dept with licensed Lactation Consultants available.

I am a person who has exclusively and extended nursed two children and am strongly supportive of breastfeeding, but what I've heard about LLL just makes me wary of them. I am not as militant as many of them seem to be. I dont' look down on Mom's who don't breastfeed. They don't let a woman be a leader unless she exclusively breastfed for a year, not giving formula EVER or even bottles.... (the bottles might not be right) But I think that's wrong, many women do their breastfeeding different ways and it doesn't help to start off judgmental of how someone else does it.

All that said, I am absolutely certain that there are LLL groups out there that are simply wonderful. I would really just check it out.

  • I have heard mixed results from them. My sister runs a support and resource group for new moms that is really wonderful.
