how can i get my toddler to stop throwing her food?

  • When she starts to throw the food, tell her that if she does it again, then the meal is over.
    When she does it again, the meal will be over. Stay calm, don't yell, get on with your day.

  • Agreed. When my kid throws his cup, I take it away. Now he sets it back on the table. We did the same for food, and I don't remember the last time he threw food.

  • Ignore her. Do not keep picking it up. Throwing things and watcing someone pick it up is a game to a toddler and normal behavior. If she keeps throwing food or her cup, take it away until she is ready to act nicely. Do not let her move from the table until everyone is done eating.

  • first time she throws it mention that we don't throw food. Second time the meal is over, it gets wrapped and put in refrig. When their hungry again she gets it rewarmed.
