My son's fourth birthday is this month and I want to have a pirate treasure hunt. Need help!

Need to come up with clues and format for 12 2-5 year olds outside in a backyard. Nothing too hard!

  • You could use flags as markers. Do you have a sandbox in which to bury the treasure/chest? Hmmm....not sure.

  • We made a series of pirate maps as clues. We used a brown paper bag torn into squares and tied it into scrolls. Each map directed the kids to the next location, where another map was hidden. We didn't have any good place to bury it, so DH the chest up in a tree. We filled it with candy (including gold circle coins), eye patches, and lots of Mardi gras necklaces to look like gems. While we were doing other games, DH portioned the candy out into goody bags.
