4 year old and the potty.

He goes to the potty. But only when he doesn't have his underwear or pull-up on. I am pretty consistent on asking him (he did start potty training late, he had no interest before) and making him sit on the potty. I am just afraid that he won't be able to start kindergarten on time because he's not completely potty trained. Help?

  • Let him go without underwear or a pull up. You shouldn't worry about kindergarten because I believe all children have to be 5 before they can go in. Prek and most daycares require children to be potty trained by 3 unless they have a disability. Talk to his doctor about his potty habits.

  • Check with your school district about their policies. All school districts set their own, and they vary from place to place. I wouldn't worry too much about his potty habits yet, though.

  • That's a relief because I have the same problem with my 4 year old daughter who is going to Pre-K this September. They didn't say her potty habits were an issue, but they are to me.
