Is it normal for my 3 month old EBF babyboy to have only one poopy diaper every other day or every two days?

Does this mean he could be uncomfortable or constipated?

  • Completely normal, as long as the stool is not hard, dry or pellet like. EBF babies can safely go up to about 10 days in between bowel movements, as long as they're soft.

  • NORMAL!!! an EBF baby after about 10 weeks can go 13 days without a poopy diaper, the breastmilk is almost fully absorbed and waste really. As long as baby doesn't have an extremely hard tummy, isn't in pain or straining you are son was EBf hes 27.5 months now and still nursing

  • yes it is normal! breastmilk is easy to digest and the nutrients is used, so the baby wont poop as much. it varies by baby! my son once went 3 weeks without pooping. your baby might be constipated or has trapped gas if he is crying and arching his back or unlatching and crying. or if he does poop and it is hard. you can massage his tummy in a clockwork motion, lift his legs to his tummy and do bicycle legs, burp him after he unlatches, lay his tummy down on your knees and pat his back... if the ped. gives a thumbs up on medicine you can offer gripe water or gas drops. but dont worry it is normal for breastfed babies to not poop all the time!
