How can you tell how many weeks along you are?

I have read that you add the 2 weeks prior to when you concieved to your total pregnancy time. Is this accurate?

  • THAT IS A APPROXIMATION, BUT FAIRLY TRUE. ALSO WHEN YOU GET FURTHER ALONG YOUR UTERUS MEASURMENTS SHOULD BE AROUND THE SAME SIZE AS WEEKS YOU ARE PREGNANT. WHEN YOUR UTERUS IS AT THE NAVEL A GENERAL RULE IS ABOUT 20 WEEKS ALONG.

  • It's an estimate since most women don't know date of conception and so wouldn't know gestational age. The two weeks is based on the assumption that you ovulated on day fourteen and have a twenty-eight day menstrual cycle.

However, if you have short cycles or long cycles the calculation will be off. That's why it is only ever an approximation, never exact.
