I know there are several religions that teach that their god can "smit" when he feels like he should. But, should that really be a part of religion at all? Why should a person fear a bring that is supposed to love them? I don't think fear should be a part of a persons religion. No one should do something just because they are afraid of what will happen if they don't.

No I do not believe we should fear God/Goddess. As for offending them, not worried about that either. If I'm doing something so vile as to offend a deity then I'm not really living my life according to my faith.

I don't think any God should be feared. I don't believe in being afraid of offending them either. For example, in Christianity one must take Jesus in their heart and be filled with the Holy Spirit, etc. Well, if that has happened then what is there to fear? Because once a person has done such things then the "worldly" stuff is supposed to fall away and you are to be focused on God and his plan for you, etc. O.k. so I'm really condensing it and I know it's more than that, but anyway... if you have accepted Jesus then you have it in your heart to "please" Him. Yes there is still the chance to sin, but you are more likely to do things that make Him "happy" rather than offend Him. So there should be no fear really. Just the realization that you are better if you follow what you should.
