recipe help: crockpot chicken on foil balls

I've just read about 2 dozen recipes for doing this and one person had commented instead of foil BALLS use baker potatoes wrapped in foil. Sounds lovely but after hanging out in the crockpot for 6-8 hours wouldn't they be muuuuush?

  • No. The crockpot would bake the potatoes right along with the chicken. Even if the potatoes were by themselves in the crockpot, they'd still take 8 hours to bake.

    My only concern here is the liquid (fat) roasting off the chicken getting into the potatoes. You'd want to either make sure the fat is drained every few hours or else wrap those potatoes snugly.
