HR 3200 Promotes Euthanasia (Link to bill and pages)

So if HR 3200 allows for euthanasia for the terminally ill--what's to say it also includes for preemies and low-birth weight babies-- that require extensive NICU care--assuming they are otherwise healthy?!

See pages 425-434

Here are the excerpts I fond most "interesting:"

‘‘(IV) is guided by a coalition of stakeholders includes representatives from emergency medical services, emergency department physicians or nurses, state long-term care association, state medical association, state surveyors, agency responsible for senior services, state department of health, state hospital association, home health association, state bar association, and state hospice association."

  • In our facility if 1 could not perform the task( for whatever reason), one would be reassigned to another patient care assignment.

  • Bloodbought - this is already being done now. In the Nicu and del room their is defined criteria that LEGALLY allows no treatment or cessation of treatment.

yes, we allow those born at less than 22 weeks and with breathing difficulties pass in del rooms surrounded by family members. yes, we allow infants born with certain, "incompatiable with long term life" pass without intervention. We withdraw support from pts and let them pass in their parents' arms. hard as it may be to accept, sometimes living is not in the best interest of the pt.
First do no harm. It's called compassionate care.

  • Thank you for this posting.
While others choose to not stand and pay close attention when these horrible things are actually going to happen if they do not~~~I just feel that this is something that really needs everyone's attention.
While in nursing I had witnessed many things being done behind closed doors and this will just make it more of a happening. Somehow not so bad because it is written and signed.
I stopped all care with one lady that the doctors had told her family that she had been so brain damaged that she would soon die after refusing her food and drink. That was not the case. It took her 28 days to pass away and by the 2nd day I could no longer continue to watch and refuse her.
If this passes ~~~ all stops will be pulled and we will begin seeing America kill its own and call it medical care. NECCESSITY.
This is totally not OK and people better start speaking up!

  • But of course, the bill would NEVER say that it promotes restriction of lifesaving measures, or does it?!?!

"The level of treatment indicated under subparagraph (A)(ii) may range from an indication for full treatment to an indication to limit some or all or specified interventions.

Such indicated levels of treatment may include indications respecting, among other items—16 ‘‘(i) the intensity of medical intervention if the 17 patient is pulse less, apneic, or has serious cardiac 18 or pulmonary problems;19 ‘‘(ii) the individual’s desire regarding transfer20 to a hospital or remaining at the current care set21 Ting;22 ‘‘(iii) the use of antibiotics; and 23 ‘‘(iv) the use of artificially administered nutrition and hydration.’’.
