She got her first tooth!! When do I start brushing her teeth?

My 7 month old daughter just cut her first tooth yesterday. Do I need to start brushing her teeth now?

  • Gerber has grins & giggles baby tooth paste, that's what I use. When I went to the dentist they gave me a baby toothbrush for 4-24 months, I think it was Oral-B.... not sure. Our doctor said to start brushing at 5 months even if they don't have teeth yet, Grins & Giggles usually comes with a rubber gum scrubber.

  • Yes. I lightly rub my little one's new teeth and his gums every night/morning with a wet washcloth.

  • You should have been brushing her gums all along. Gums need cleaning, too.

  • anon 951 is right. make sure you use "toothpaste" with OUT floride. the baby will just swallow it...not good for them. you can go ahead and call the dentist...see if they want you to make an apointment. i started taking my daughter when she was 8 months.
