  • LOVE THE LORD THY GOD WITH ALL THY HEART SOUL AND MIND:
Thou Shalt Have No Other God's Before Me
Thou Shalt Not Make Unto Thee Any Graven Image
Thou Shalt Not Take The Name Of The Lord Thy God In Vain
Remember The Sabbath Day To Keep It Holy

    LOVE THY NEIGHBOR AS THYSELF:
Honor Thy Father And Thy Mother
    Thou Shalt Not Kill
    Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery
    Thou Shalt Not Steal
Thou Shalt Not Bear False Witness Against Thy Neighbor
    Thou Shalt Not Covet

    :-)

  • biblegateway.com is better :-) My personal preference.

Anonymous, in order to mature as Christians , studying the bible and doing own research helps a lot in our growth. If you go to biblegateway, just go to keywords and enter commandment and see what comes up. I encourage using either NASB or NLT for the best translations , NIV and The Message are paraphrases of the actual translated versions.
After that come back here and share with us what you learned :-) Its fun believe me !

Mark 12:28-31 (New American Standard Bible)

28(A)One of the scribes came and heard them arguing, and (B)recognizing that He had answered them well, asked Him, "What commandment is the foremost of all?"

    29Jesus answered, "The foremost is, '(C)HEAR, O ISRAEL! THE LORD OUR GOD IS ONE LORD;

30(D)AND YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND, AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH.'

31"The second is this, '(E)YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.' There is no other commandment greater than these."

  • The point is not that you follow these two commandments instead of the ten but that these two summarize the ten.

  • Nowhere is it saying for us not to follow 10 commandments...it's saying that no other commandment IS GREATER THAN THESE. We are still to follow all 10!

Don't you think that YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF covers every other commandment. I mean what would I kill my neighbor if I love him as myself.
