Yuck!

"Powdered infant formulas are not sterile and should not be fed to premature infants or infants who might have immune problems unless directed and supervised by your baby's doctor."

i just read that off of a similac can of formula. sure opened my eyes!

  • If you think that is shocking check out the ingredients. In soy formula about 60% of the ingredients are sugars.

  • Powdered formulas aren't sterile b/c you have to put your hand in it to scoop it out, but you should make sure that you wash your hands before doing so. I think that they are fine unless you put dirty hands into the can. We used powdered formula.

  • It did not say that powdered formulas are not sterile because your hands are not sterile. It said the actual formula isn't.
