Did you know that there are other books out there besides "What to Expect"?

Seriously, have you read more than the popular books. Sure, they are entertaining, many are downright hilarious, and have some information, but they really barely scratch the surface of the serious issues. They are meant to entertain and appeal to a popular audience, they aren't written to get into the most useful, real details. The local library is a free resource and some bookstores allow you to read books before you buy. It pays to read off the beaten path!

  • I hate the 'What to expect' books. The pregnancy one doesn't even begin to describe c-sections and how dangerous they are. I never bought one. Or even thought about it.

  • my fav was "Pregnancy Sucks" It gives a month by month break down on what to look for, and then the author gripes about people touching her belly, demanding that she sits down and eats something, etc. etc... all the annoying things that happen during pregnancy that noone tells you about.

  • The What to Expect books have a lot of inaccurate info and I don't know why they are so popular.

  • Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth
    Birthing From Within
Ina May Gaskin's Guide to Childbirth

I recommend those :) The What to Expect books are crap.
