How Do You Clean Up Carmelized Sugar?

My SIL was trying to make candied ginger today, and didn't know that sugar was flamable. She ended up getting carmelized sugar on the stove, in the sink, and on dishes. So do any of you ladies know how to get carmelized sugar out of these theings?

  • You'll have to either soak them or scrape them. Hot water will dissolve the sugar if soaked long enough.

  • Caramelized sugar usually responds well to soaking. For the stove, put a wet rag on top of the sugar.
