How Do You Get Carmelized Sugar Out?

My SIL was trying to make candied ginger today, and didn't know that sugar was flamable. She ended up getting carmelized sugar on the stove, in the sink, and on dishes. So do any of you ladies know how to get carmelized sugar out of these theings?

  • It is going to take good old fashioned elbow grease. I would use a paste with salt, baking soda and vinegar (unless it is a stainless steel surface) and scrub with an old toothbrush.
