Are Christians allowed to listen to music other than Christian music??

Or is that against the rules? Just wondering how that all worked?

  • I'm pretty sure God doesn't care what music you listen to. Most Christians just happen to like Christina music

  • There aren't any "rules," but there are certain songs that I don't like to listen to because they don't line up with my beliefs.

  • A Christian can listen to whatever music they like :-)

There are certain themes and words in certain songs that it might not be WISE for a Christian to listen to, however. We should keep from the appearance of evil. If something we listen to or support with our money causes another person to stumble, we shouldn't listen to it. If the particular song or artist promotes a theme that God would not approve of, a Christian shouldn't WANT to listen to it.

For me, songs with excessive cursing, degrading themes towards women and glorifications of lifestyles that are harmful to self and others are songs that I choose not to listen to because of personal convictions of the Holy Spirit. I love Christian music but I also love a variety of music from all over the world as well :-)

  • Some don't even listen to music at all... it depends on what denomination and what church.
