What type of specialist treats ear issues?

My daughter is very sensitive to loud noises but her pediatrician seems to think it's nothing. I'd like to take her to see a specialist but don't know the name of the type of specialist I'm looking for.

  • An ENT treats complications with the ears, however an audiologist treats complications with hearing. I would take her to an audiologist.

  • She would have to see an ENT (and might need a referral from her pediatrician) before she is referred to an audiologist.

  • Audiologist.

They are trained to diagnose, manage and/or treat hearing or balance problems.

  • @KalebsMommee

That depends on the OP's insurance. Some insurance companies don't require referrals, some do.
