How many of you would call me racist if...

If I was Hispanic and wanted Hispanic History Month, or Chinese and wanted Chinese History Month, or as I am Caucasian and wanted Caucasian History Month? Why are blacks the only ones with their own month?

  • ive always thought the same thing! they have all kinds of special things just for black people, like special college scholarships and funds etc. - i have nothing against black people or anything. but its definatly not fair.

  • I would call you racist for using the term blacks. Get over it. Either push for it or shut up

  • I've never understood it either. All of the history (whether it black, white, purple, yellow, or green) has shaped how things are now. All races have had some sort of impact on the world. It should all be celebrated all the time.
No, I don't consider you racist for asking. It was a good question.

  • why is using the term "black" racist? I think using the term African American is more racist because that is assuming someone who is black has history from Africa when they could be Jamaican or another nationality... doesn't that kind of tie our hands... damned if we do, damned if we don't?
We can't please everyone... there are too many nationalities for all of us to have a month.
