  • Yes. Does your son eat food yet? Give him more food than normal, and not as much milk. If you have to give him milk and can afford to, get some whole milk.

  • So he's just shy of being one year? Is he eating foods as well? It should be fine, but an abrupt change like that will probably do a number on his tummy. He may become constipated or have an upset tummy, gassy, etc. My kids switched to cow's milk at a year with no problem, but we did a gradual switch from formula, diluting the formula half and half with milk to get them used to it.

  • Oh yeah, use whole milk, they need the extra fat for proper brain development.

Formula is not made with breastmilk.

If your breasts leak at all, you may be able to breasfeed a little bit. If you do give him cow milk, watch carefully for signs of an allegic reaction especially if he has been on a soy formula.

  • "it wont hurt him cause formula has breast milk and cows milk in it " That is quite some misinformation you are trying to spread there lil missy. Formula does not have breast milk (from humans) in it.

  • Best bet, call the pedi and ask if they have any samples you can use for the time being. Chances are introducing cows milk will not cuase any problems, but you never know.

  • Wow, to get enough breastmilk to make formula out of, lol.. I'm just imagining all of these women hooked up like cows on the line as a job. LOL sorry... didn't pertain to question, just struck me funny.
