what age did you kids stop taking names?

My almost 3 year old hasn't had a nap in several days, but when it comes time for his usual nap time he's tired, but won't sleep, no matter what I do (although I haven't been doing car rides these past few days)

  • My daughter quit napping once she was weaned. There are days that I'd just about kill for a nap. :) Have you tried telling him that he doesn't have to nap, but he does have to spend quiet time on his bed? Perhaps he'd bore himself to sleep.

  • None of my kids napped after 18months. They may take the occasional naps, but nothing that could be counted on for the last 5 years (YS-6, DD-10, OS-20)

  • i put on a kid movie for them in the afternoon. they usually fall asleep or at least rest. at this moment i have a movie on. my 13 mo old son is finally asleep in my arms, and the 2yo i'm babysitting is sleeping on the couch. the 3yo is watching the movie so intently, i think he may fall asleep.too

  • My kids took naps until they were 4, and until they started kindergarten we still had "rest time" where I would turn a movie on and they would lay down either on the couch or in the floor to watch.

  • all three of my girls stopped napping around 18 months. unless its been a BUSY day and I ran them into the ground LOL then they'd nap a bit.

  • It all depends on what time my son wakes up. He will be three in november. If he wakes up before 9:30 he will take a nap and still be ready for bed at 9pm. It he wakes up past 9:30 he does not take a nap, he sits on his bed and looks at books for 45 minutes or so just so I can have a break when everyone is being quiet.
