Is it possible she can already have nightmares?

My dd is 21 mos and rarely shows fear. We watch disney movies and she gets sad when the characters are but never shows fear of the "bad guys" or "monsters". However, she wouldnt go to bed until midnight last night, and woke up at 4 am this morning. Tried taking a nap from 730-1030 but every time she would go to sleep she'd wake up kicking and screaming! Yelling "no no no, Kyky NO!" Lately we've been at a friends house and her daughters name is kyli... she tends to push and shove my daughter and take toys from her! My daughter never hits back or anything and she just started yelling NO to her... could she be having nightmares because of these events?

  • My daughter has had nightmares for months, wake her up at least once a night. Just recently as she's neared 18 months she has started getting night terrors as well.

    So yes, its very possible.

  • Kids can have nightmares from the time they are old enough to dream. Its possible it could be from the events throughout the day, plus the lack of sleep she's getting can also play a big factor on her dreams
